You are taking things too personally about the dis. Every generation pretty much goes through the same routine. It is part of growing up. The only difference between your generation and any other is that you are in the generation currently being picked upon.
Drugs is not the issue. Education is not the issue. Music is not the issue. Fashion is not the issue. Learning how to get by while being picked upon or dissed -- That is the issue. It is only by knowing how to cope with this can your generation (or any other) ever make it in the real adult world.
How do the rest of us know when to stop the picking? When you learn how to cope with it without excessive whining. And by the way, a few never make in in every generation (which is where all the whining adults come from).
You are NOT the badguys. But you are still the students of life. So far, your generation is doing a very good job. Once you make it through this last hurdle, you will begin to understand. Sorry if any of the process hurt.

i don't hear much at all to do with bashing your generation. So i don't really get who's sayin all the bad things. I have 2 teen sons, i work, have neighbours, am out daily, but i'm not hearing this. Sure i may have my complaints about my sons, but not many, all their friend are ok by me, never had any i don't like, nothing they've ever done offended/angered or annoyed me. I also remember very well my teen years, i think that helps a bit. And i remember well my generation being "dissed" although we called it "put down". My generation, being right after the Hippies, oh by the way, my sons and many of your generation still diss the hippies, so mellow out, cause every generation gets their turn, your kids are gonna feel and say the exact same about you and your generation, i can put a 100% guarentee on that. Every now and then old black and white movies of Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland come on tv., if you watch you'll see them and all their high school friends together complaining about the older generation, you'll hear how they complain about the way the kids dress, dance, talk, date, and behave these days, this is the 1940's all the same complaints, you'll even see their parents doing the complaining, exactly what i got, exactly what your getting. You would really be shocked at how common teens really are generation after generation, as much as you may not like it, it's true. And you'll be no different with your kids when you get here. Sad but true, "history does repeat it self, in more ways than one". We are really very very much the same, it just depends on what age your looking back from!

They're Jealous.
Then there were choices of starting a family or starting a family.
Today it is innovation and persistence making dreams happen.
Don't sweat them, show them how to use the mind's ability to adapt to social issues such as 5 times higher divorce rates than their generations, or how a rap song actually describes something more than guns, sex and drugs. Tell them how the ingenuity necessary in order for our generation to even make ends meat these days calls for a confidence so loud that we would likely get passed over by those that make the decisions if we weren't out to make a statement loudly as to the nature of our own individuality's.
It is a changing world and sometimes it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, so find something they are familiar with and with a little compassion and humility you can be yourself and stop their ignorance through dropping any arrogance that may in fact exist. You will be famous for your self or you will be a bum because of yourself....the point here is that you are who you are because of the experiences that you put yourself through -- it sounds like the older generations don't quite like the idea that they could taken control of their own directions because for them -- there was more family involvement from childhood onward with their chosen paths....different times creates different minds == you know give em a reason to ask what if...they may just wind up admiring you?
God Bless.
Best of luck dude.

It might be related to the general education and knowledge of the younger generation. Yes, you know about computer usage, game usage, cell-phone use and texting, but in terms of general knowledge and the application of general knowledge to solving problems or future employment, there seems to be a disconnect between the younger generation and those who have actually established the high standard of living in the USA. The older generations have made it possible for the youngest generation to spend as much time as they do on frivolous endeavors (see the list above).
As to global warming, that's a red herring, not even worthy of response. It has nothing to do with global warming.
It seems that the younger generation has very little knowledge about what is involved in creating a business, creating employment, protecting the nation, etc. Hopefully, as they grow up, they'll learn that life is not a bowl of cherries. It takes hard work to succeed, and it's getting harder. Ask your parents if they worked at a job as a teenager, or contributed to chores at home? Did they help pay their own way to go to college or contribute to it?
Most of all, it seems the younger generation is getting used to handouts from others, free stuff galore, and it shows in their political views -- namely liberal views. Government has to collect money in order to give it away. When you start a business, or pay taxes, you'll probably begin to ask more questions about "Who is going to pay for all these federal and state handout programs" -- but in the meantime, they sound great don't they? Free money for all. Just ask Hillary.
If you like all the toys and free time to play with them, you'll have to pay the price -- which is hard work, creative work, and for a while at least, less time texting, an less time playing with your computer games. Remember, there are others around the world getting better education, and are more motivated to take YOUR future income and jobs. Like the Chinese -- they aren't smarter, but they are more motivated and disciplined, and that's what it takes to succeed, and they are succeeding.
Have fun (while you can)

Way too true. We live in a world they created. They may say otherwise but it is sadly true. You have to realize that we also can have an impact, so it is probably going in their minds saying, "If they blame the next generation for our mistakes, they might do something about it."
Everyone has to admit though that it is a lot easier to see the bad instead of the good most of the time. Some teens aren't exactly helping the insult onslaught either. It is always a small group that ruins things for the rest of us.

I am 25, and our generation sucks. Overall, our generation cares about nothing. We are nihilists. Of course there are a few that actually care, but we cannot offset the multitudes that don't. Overall our generation is too self involved to realize there is a world beyond the city limit sign.

Ho, you think this is bad. Wait till you have to start paying back all the loans we have saddled on your back, with our deficit spending.
I suspect you are looking in all the wrong places if you want praises for your generation. Stop looking at all the bad news and concentrate f the good news (see link)

It happens to every generation. When I was a kid, they were talking about how we were a bunch of murdering psychopaths. Then Columbine happened, and every outcast teenager was looked on with horror. They've actually found writings dating back to ancient Rome that talked about how kids those days were awful. Don't worry; in thirty years you'll be lamenting the state of culture and b!tching about kids, that noise they call music, and how you and your friends were _never__ so disrespectful and delinquent.

People dis every generation because "the world is always getting worse" .So everyone in the next generation will always be considered worse . Technology may get better but people don't think of people actually getting better.
