Some things that surprised me:
1. Anahiem starting off 1-2-1. I know they are missing some people right now, but I still expected them to have a better start. I mean come on, they lost to Columbus.
2. JR scoring 2 goals last night...against Luongo of all people. I guess I owe the man an apology.
3. Cam Ward. Many people picked him to be the come back player of the year, but he looked absolutely unbelievable against the Pens.
4. Nashville. I only caught their first game against Colorado, but they looked just as good as last year. I didnt expect them to be as bad as some people were saying, but they looked way better than I thought they would be.

Like Im Telling You: I was thinking about including the Hawks in my list but Im still bitter about the goal that the ref waived off. Chicago did look good and REALLY took it to Detroit towards the end of OT. I was paying a lot of attention to Kane as well, I really think he is going to be a superstar in the not too distant future.

Youngsters doing well. It seems it is really turning into a young man's game. Gagner, Kane, Staal, Price still being on the Habs roster, Backstrom. Good youth movement.
Cam Ward is no surprise to me, I was one of those who thought he would be better (early though).
I thought JR would do well and Anaheim would struggle out of the gate.
Nashville and Edmonton looking good. NYI acquisitions.

I was surprised that the Flyers played like a team that had been together for more than a year when they played the Flames. I know there are plenty of reasons why, and that they didn't play perfectly, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Then when Mike Knuble scored for the Oilers tonight I said "Yep, the Flyers have been around about 40 years and God still ain't a fan".

The performance Chicago put in against Detroit tonight in the 3rd period and OT. I had kissed the game goodbye but they showed some hustle in the 3rd period.
This Kane kid looks like he already fits in. Very smart with the puck

Deffinantly agree with PuckDat.
Mike Comrie/Bill Guerin/ Ruslan Fedetanko
Dangerous line for the eatern conference.
Im starting to doubt them missing the playoffs.
Like cmon 10 points in their first game, and then again tonight helping them comeback to get the win.
Amazing line IMO.

I agree with laying low. The islanders beating the sabres twice and the way buffalo is starting the season. Also Briere and the flyers are impressing me so far. It has only been two games but still.

Islanders beating Buffalo 2 straight. Comrie scoring 4 goals in 2 games. They have decent penalty killing so far.
Let's Go ISLANDERS

Pretty much nothing. I really don't draw any conclusions based on two games. With such a small sample size, there is a very good chance that anything can happen.

How about the performance of the Guerin, Comrie, Fedetenko line? No way anyone saw that coming.

JR definitely. I expected him to struggle a lot this season, but he shut my mouth.
