The US was originally meant for immigrants (Pilgrims, Puritans, Ellis Island immigrants, British subjects *after* pilgrims, etc.), so building a wall would essentially contradict what America was founded upon: freedom. Mexicans are trying to escape poverty by coming to America where they have a chance at life, etc.

Building a wall across the U.S./Mexico border won't keep anyone from using a boat to get to Florida or Texas or California or Georgia or Alabama or Louisiana or Oregon or Washington. I certainly don't want to pay for a 10,000 mile fence that covers all ocean borders as well. And tunnels have already been dug under existing fences. People will continue to find a way to cross a barrier to find a better life, especially if life itself depends on it. We should decrease the attraction by limiting the opportunities for undocumented workers to find employment.

Because it would impede wildlife. Not just reptiles and the like, either...jaguars are coming up from Mexico.
Also, it's just a fence. A fence offers no real protection, it would just slow them down a little. People can climb it, cut through it, or tunnel under it. A bunch of these, http://capitaldefence.orcon.net.nz/prfles/propic5/001-Pillbox-WRFB26.jpg , manned of course, would be a lot more effective and wouldn't prevent wildlife from coming up.

When the astronauts visited the moon they looked at the earth and saw a beautiful sphere of blue. Something they didn't see, were lines dividing, countries, states, provinces, oceans etc. The whole world sis nor look divided , Unfortunately human beings have divided it up.
Wouldn't the world be wonderful if we lived like that. However, politics, religions, ignorance, greed replace compassion, understanding, giving, forgiveness and tolerance. Mexican people, mostly, come to America to try and feed their families. Mothers and children choose a dangerous path because they are desperatey in need. I have heard on CNN so called religious men, state, keep them out, put up a fence, send them back etc. etc. Yet they go to church every week and pray for peace, understanding and compassion, which they themselves, are supposed to give to others, including Mexican people. Yes there are drug smugglers, but every Mexican is included in their judgement. "Forgive them for they know now what they do"

It wouldn't solve the problem they're trying to solve. Terrorists can enter through Canada or the ports more easily than Mexico. Our ports are mostly ungarded. Most containers are not inspected.
