This sounds like a simple question, but it is not.

The snake that kills most humans is either the Forest or Indian Cobra- small cobras that bite a lot of people, especially women and children. The snake lives close to human houses and the people walk in bare feet or sandals. The 'problem' (as far as this question goes) is that most bite victims survive.

The most toxic venom is measured in what is called LD50- It is measured in 'mg/kg'- how many milligrams of venom per kilogram of victim does it take to kill off 1/2 of the test victims.

The snake with the lowest dose has the most toxic venom- and this is the Inland Taipan or Fierce Snake. The Mamba and other common answers have MUCH more mild venom. For this question, however, the Fierce snake does not bite many people.

What snake bites a lot of people AND kills a lot of its victims? No one will say for sure. Common answers by experts include:
- Bushmaster
- Eastern Diamondback
- Fer-de-lance
- Several kinds of cobras, such as the Egyptian
- Puff Adders
- Saw-scale Vipers

By the way- All venomous snakes are also poisonous. Venom is a POISON that works by other than ingestion. It also happens to be a 'toxin'- a naturally occurring poison.

Calling some snakes 'venomous' is a LITTLE more accurate than calling them 'poisonous'- but no expert on poisons, no common dictionary, no biology reference, etc. feels that 'poisonous' is incorrect in this case.

I think you'll find madkins answer is most accurate if you do the research. The most dangerous snake might not necessarily be the most venomous. Some of the most venomous snakes avoid people at all costs, therefore they are not as dangerous as the less venomous snakes who are extremely aggressive and live in close proximity with people. No one answer is correct, as you are asking two questions here, really.

Black mamba is the most poisonous land-based snake but the sea snake is the most poisonous water-based snake.

If you're asking what snake has the strongest venom, it is the inland taipan of Australia. They are also known as the fierce snake. However, people are rarley killed by them because they are not an aggressive snake and live in remote areas of Australia and are rarely encountered by people. Nonetheless, they are not something you should have as a pet!

some of the deadliest land snakes live in Australia.A drop of poison could kill 250000 mice.other highly dangerous snakes incould cobras, rattlesnakes, and taipans, which can grow to eleven feet long.

One type of cobra spits poison in its enemies' faces, blinding the victim! Spitting cobras have very good aims. They can hit a target more than 6feet away.
