Going to Vegas for 7 days. I will be checking out the strip. I am interested in doing some hiking and outdoor stuff in the desert and canyon's. I would like to avoid the packed tours if possible. Does anyone know small area tours kinda off the beaten track that most tourist are unaware of? Thanks!

Hate to tell you, if you want to hike, Las Vegas isn't the place to come to. Possibly Paraump. The closest thing that has to do with hinking is Red Rock Canyon. They only have certain times to go hiking though.

Red Rock Canyon.
Valley of the Fire park.
Mt. Charleston.
Lake Mead.
Area 51.
But you will need a rental car for all of the above.
Also, the Grand Canyon is only a few hours away.

Mt Charleston... village in the high mountains, huge trees, snow. You won't believe you're only 35 miles from Las Vegas.

my husband and I went to vegas in June, and we stayed there for a week. one of the days we were there, we went to the sand dune to ride quad bikes through the dessert, it was tiring but it was worth it, we had a lot of fun, I think you should try it! :)
