Too much batter in too small a pan, yank it out of the oven and throw it in the biggest pan you have. Put it back in and let it finish (toothpick comes out clean) and ice it. Won't be pretty but will still taste good.

means you put something into the recipe you shouldnt have put into it (like yeast probably for a explosive reaction like you describe)
