ret_roch_cop (below) Bush is the one of the strogest supporters for amnesty yet you blame the liberals? And people wonder why the two sides can't reason with each other.

We can all sit here and arrogantly assume to know the hearts and minds of someone who comes to America illegally but the fact is we don't know their story.
How do we know they didn't try to make their country better? How do we know they didn't do their damndest to make a life for themselves and their families in Mexico?
It's the American way, isn't it? (those who lack humility) To sit on a pedestal you didn't have to climb and pass swift judgment on the unfortunate in life, those who didn't happen to be born in the land of the free, the land of opportunity.

Little or know opportunity unless you pay off someone. Free enterprise just does not exist as is does in the USA. Just more chances to get somewhere with hard work. Peace

You make a good point on this one. Are the illegals coming over the border the cream of the Mexican society or the dredges? The problem with this question is that the answer is very un-PC.

You answered your own question here, by the way. Yes, they made their lives better, at the expense of the US's laws and sovereignty. Is that okay to you? It isn't to me. I don't see this as a making lives better issue but a sovereignty issue. Every country has respected borders, we shouldn't be any different.

The same reason people have abandoned their home countries to come here since the Pilgrims boarded the Mayflower in England.

For one thing their presidents have trained them to think all of Mexico, Canada and the US is America therefore borders don't mean anything. Whereas we think of the three as separate countries they do not. That explains why they feel entitled to make demands once they get here.

Looking for a free ride and an easy way out. We should ship them back and give each one a gun at the border. The mexican government would be jumping the border next.

They are making their country better. They are coming here, earning money and sending it home. After they have accumulated enough funds, they go back home and build a house...

Which is why amnesty is a stupid idea.

taking the easy solution, the same thing Americans are doing. Instead of working together to fix the problems we point fingers. We don't leave, but we further the divide, which won't solve the problems

Easier to ride in on someone else's hard working mule than to go buy your own, that's why!
Our fore fathers already fought & suffered to establish this prosperous nation. They don't want to stand up & be heard or shot in the head, whichever comes first!
