Me, too, Pink! My Dad was a Civil Defense patrolman in Phenix City, Alabama in the early 1960's and so we talked about our survivor plans a lot. Plus, since we also lived in an Army town (Phenix City, Alabama & Columbus, Georgia were twin cities connected by the Chattahooche River Bridge and nearby was Ft. Benning). Plus, our school also had us practice walking home (almost everyone walked to school unless you lived in the farming community outside of town) after they sounded the air raid alarm and your parents (most mothers were stay-at-home-Moms back then) wrote down what time you arrived home so you could turn it in at school the next day. I wasn't really terrified because my parents discussed everything in a calm, assured manner...but I was worried about what would happen to my pets...a dog, a cat, and a parakeet. I, do, however, remember about the dangers of the fallout and worrying about having to stay inside the shelters and not being able to play outside and what the world would be like whenever we were finally able to go outside once again. I do think it is more of a reality in our lives today, but unfortunately, I don't think people take these things very seriously anymore...and maybe they should!

I lived in Florida during the Cuban missle crisis and we used to have bomb drills at the elementary school I was in. I was in 5th grade. the drill siren would go off and we never knew if it was for real until the principal came over the loudspeaker after the drill was over. We would have to get under our desks and cover our eyes so we would not be blinded by the blast.. We had canned food and water stocked up in the back of the classroom. We were told we would not be able to go home or leave the classroom if the atom bomb went off for at least 2 weeks. I was terrified to go to school and leave the saftey of my home and parents. I would get sick with stomach pains every day at school during this crisis. I remember my biggest fear was that we would have to go to the bathroom and bathe in front of all my classmates. I don't know why I thought about this but that is what frightened me the most. I would even have terrible dreams about it. for a long time after the missle crisis was over I still had panic attacks and suffered from abdominal pain and diahrreah. I now realize 46 years later I was traumatized. It really affected my life and I had trouble going outside or being away from my parents for a long time.

I grew up way before the 70's and we had bomb shelters in the 40's before there was any nuclear power. But I do remember being afraid of bombings all through my life. I am nearly 80 years old.

We thought the world would be safer after the fall of the archenemy.
I knew my time was borrowed because of all the allied air raids against my city in Austria during WWII, that stopped, and the USSR became no 1 enemy. That stopped and now it's Al Qaeda.
We keep forgetting that the archenemy is the delusions about the separateness of our lives and being stuck in the life conditions of being dependent on the environment for our happiness.
Now it's a race between Al Qaeda and the Islamic extremists against global warming and chemical pollution and overpopulation and lack of water and antibiotic resistant microbes and on and on. All these things are caused by hubris. It's OK, though, the ants and the cockroaches are ready to take over. They are radiation resistant.

No, not when I was growing up but when I started having children it was during the late 70/80s and that US, Russia,China were always in the news.
There was so much talk of bombs, ICBMs and all those stupid 'end of the world" movies and I must admit I was scared for my children.
Now my children are grown and I have grandchildren and my fears for them are different. I guess the nuclear war thing was a product of a certain time.
Drugs, crime and terrorism seem to be the 'biggies' now!!!

I remember "Duck and Cover" in school. It was scary, but nothing like the Cuban Missile Crisis. I was seventeen with a seven month old baby. I lived one mile from a major Air Force base. I was terrified. We had no basement, so I went to my Aunt's house and we worried together. I don't think we will be involved in a nuclear war, however the suitcase bomb is a real threat.

I was seven when I read the Civil Defense Manual cover to cover.
It scared the daylights out of me.
I have somehow always been prepared for emergencies. I keep a list of what to take in case of evacuation, etc., and we have outfitted our ranch with generators, emergency water, the works. Before Y2K we had enough stuff stockpiled to take care of our entire immediate family (10 members), pets, and several friends for three months. We wouldn't have had to step off the ranch for a full 90 days.
Being imprinted by preparedness is not a bad thing, I just think I grew up pretty quick.

I was a child when all that was going on too. I lived near a military base and a lot of people moved out of town to be away from that.
My own daughter used to say she didn't feel 'inspired' to her homework because by the time she grew up, the nuclear war would come, so, she'd ask, what was the point?
I made her do it anyway.

I too experienced everything you mentioned plus the movies they showed at assembly at school and the buildings around town with a sign that it was a fallout shelter. It was scary then and it is now but I don't think we, collectively are as prepared as we were then. Good question.

The metallic, Gold, silver, bronze and iron are all political kingdoms that ruled on earth, Babylon, Medo-Persians,Greece, and Rome. Now we are in the iron and clay era. i'd say that the iron represents political structures and the clay isn't a metallic which shows a various ability that being, a non secular ability. Now those powers do not connect jointly yet artwork independently. all of us understand that a non secular ability ruled on the hours of darkness a while for 1260 days/years and gained a detrimental wound. It grew to become into stated to be a beast ability. We examine in Revelation that this ability will upward push lower back ( it incredibly is going to be healed of this deadly wound) and characteristic a powerful effect in worldly affairs. This corrupted non secular ability will seek for to persecute God's actual people as seen in Rev 13:11-18. those that are dedicated to God are stated to be retaining the commandments of God, and characteristic the testimony of Jesus. Rev 12:17; 14:12. Now in Rev 17:one million-13 we see an unholy union between the political powers of the earth and this non secular ability ( whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication). additionally observe in verse 8 you will locate that this beast ability that grew to become into, and is not, and yet is. This anti-christ non secular ability would be doing great wonders, so as that he maketh fire to come again down from heaven on earth and its a deceiving ability and additionally forces its non secular ideals or you should be killed. Rev 13:11-18. Now this fake non secular ability will use the secular/political ability to enforce non secular dogma. you additionally can understand this by skill of the mingling themselves with the seed of adult males. Rev 14:6-11 is a warning to stay away from following this fake non secular ability represented by skill of the clay. Rev 18:3,9 additionally talks approximately this unlucky union with church and state because of the fact the kings of the earth committing fornication together with her (fake church). the solid information out of it incredibly is that the saints seem forward to the stone that destroys the image and instruments up the eternal kingdom have been peace and excitement reigns.
