Unfortunetly no , Australia is to far up America's rear end to try to allow such a union to be recognized legally , apparently lil John Howard cant think for himself with Bush's hand up his tush .They're known as the siamese twins here in Aus.We cant tell where Bush begins or where Howard ends.
Its just the way of the world I'm afraid.

Gay marriage is only recognized in places where it is legal.
I have talked to my boyfriend about marriage, I say that when I finish with school, we should go somewhere and get married.
He said, "Why? It won't mean anything here, so why don't we wait until its legal here and then do it?"
Ummm, because we live in Pennsylvania, and it will NEVER be legal in such a backwards state, thats why. I don't care if it means anything here, I just want to stand in a church, in front of a minister and God, and be united for life to my soulmate. United in marriage. Not a civil union or whatever, I want to get married.

NO. There's no law to recognise gay marriage in Australia. If you want to get recognised legally, go to Europe. Most countries do including UK.
Here's some article for you. http://www.ssonet.com.au/display.asp?ArticleID=6712

Nope, Australia doesn't recognise same sex marriages even if you are legally married somewhere else. Our friends just had a committment ceremony here in Queensland.

I"m really not sure about the laws and stuff for marriage
But if you want to marry purely just to lock down your love for each other- just don't make it too public, and do it anyway with your friends, families, and supporters.
