I've been through Kentucky many times, and while I live in Missouri now (from Calfornia), I always found it to be a gorgeous state landscape-wise, with people who are friendly and accepting without reservation.
Those who say otherwise, have never actually spent time there, just passed through...

Green grass, lovely whitewashed fences to keep the horses in. Louisville, Ohio River, Kentucky Derby (old old seating areas and stands and terrible restrooms - not impressive to me) and nice people

Due north of Tennessee, where I'm originally from. Similar topography in the eastern, middle and western parts of both states--very lovely places.
