1. 7/5 and -7/5 cross each other out

x = -x/7

2. multiply the right side by 7 to get rid of the fraction, whatever you do to one side you have to do to the other

(7)x = -x/7(7)
7x = -x

3. move the x over to the left

7x = -x
+x +x
8x = 0

4. divide both sides by 8

8x/8 = 0/8
x = 0/8

5. 0/8 is 0 so therefore...

x=0

so you're left with x=-x/7
multiply both sides by 7:
7x=-x
8x=0
divide both sides by 8:
x=0/8
which is the same as x=0
