I have a degree in Business Information systems, am a six year active Army veteran in Satellite systems, and have a government secret clearence. But, still can't find of job for over 6 months now (besides walmart, or Iraq). Why? So far having a degree or being a veteran means nothing, let alone together.

Thanks for all your answers, I’ll leave this questions open a little longer. Just some more quick info: I’m33, Have applied to hundreds of jobs (at least 10 a week) including Raytheon, Dod, Lockhead, L3, and many more, including entry level positions. My resume is 2 pages, but I can’t get key important items on just one page,; besides that, many have said they really like my resume.

How are your interviewing skills? Do you present yourself in a clean and professional manner? It is hard to judge yourself. Ask a friend to be honest with you and provide some constructive criticism.

there could be many different reasons. If I were u, I would do the following:
1) get letters of reference from your former commanding officers and others who know your work. Let them know you are looking for work and ask if they will be a reference for you.
2) look for work in urban areas or be willing to relocate there
3) practice your interview skills on common interview questions like "Why should we hire you?" so you come across as confident but not cocky. You want to project being a motivated team player
4) read some books on how to interview
5) come to your interviews looking professional. shave, take off jewelry, cover up tattoos, cut your hair
6) start networking with recruiters and headhunters who help people find jobs . tell them you are looking for work.
7) be willing to accept temporary jobs and/or consulting jobs until you find the job u want
8) put together a good resume free of grammar and spelling errors and post it on Monster.com
9) use any resources Uncle Sam will give u for being an out of work Veteran
10) find out what people with your experience and educational background are making (salary surveys) and use that as your guide on what to ask for.

I am sure there are other things but thats a good start.
Good luck.

You did NOT say Where you were looking .
Not every town has that grade of employment .
Did you apply at Boeing ?
McDonnell Douglas ? Lockheed ?

Maybe it means nothing because you did not apply where it counts ?
Look outside the sphere where you are .

Your resume probably needs work. I am not tryimg to be sarcastic, but employers look at your resume, and if something doesn't catch their eye quickly then they will throw it out. Make sure it is only one page too.
