=) Just curious.

I love it, and my mom loves it, but neither of our husbands liked it. We both have a boy, but neither of them got the name.

I think it's very cute for a baby or toddler, easy for a young child to learn to write, fairly uncommon nowadays but still instantly recognizeable, and is a name that will 'grow' with the child into an adult name. It means 'God is Gracious' and was originally a nickname for the proper name John.

Jack in the box; Jack and Jill went up the hill; Jack be nimble, Jack be quick are the first things that pop into my head when I see the name Jack.

It's not a bad name. It's a simple name. It's a cute nickname for Jackson. I don't see how people get Jack out of John, though.

Best wishes to you!

I think it's a crisp, handsome name that would be quite appealing if not so trendy at the moment. Also, I find it a bit informal as a given name, but I have the benefit of personal experience. We have a "just Jack" in the family, and he's had to deal with so many hassles with employers, social security, medical histories and insurance benefits, tax returns, etc. that always seem to be mysteriously "corrected" to the formal name John ... which he was not given. LOL It can really cause a lot of problems.

I'd assume that might not be quite as common once all these little Jacks, Jacksons, Jaxons, Johns and Jacobs (all of whom I've known to go by Jack) reach adulthood, but still not a chance I'd likely take with my own child. I'd give him a formal version. Even a form like Ian, Sean or Eoin (where Jack is not so obvious, but still makes sense, since all are forms of John). But that's just me. ;)

I like it, but I prefer it as a nickname for John. It feels a little too casual for a formal name.

Jackson is a great name - though so popular, I personally wouldn't use it, unless I was trying to honor a John/Jack in my family.

I think that it is very cute and suits a baby, an adult, and everything in between, which is very good. However, the name is very popular. I still like it though!
