Babies drop at different times, and although it's true that first-time mothers tend to experience lightening a few weeks before labor, it's not a rule without exceptions.
So it's perfectly normal what you are experiencing. Your baby might drop this week....or perhaps just a few days before labor.
Congrats!

My second didn't drop until about half an hour before I pushed him out. Your belly will change all the time as your baby moves. Some days I look like I'm 4 months pregnant because of how she is laying (i'm 35 weeks with #3) and others it's hard to walk because she feels like shes going to come out. All I can say is it's almost over... Good luck!

That's normal. My doctor and I were just talking about that at my last appointment! My baby is still flip flopping around and actually I feel like most of the time he is laying across instead of up and down. It's so uncomfortable! My dr told me that babies don't usually stay in one position until after 37 weeks! Hope that makes you feel better! 2 1/2 weeks left for me...YAY!!! Oh...and also, with my last baby, he was almost 9 lbs but he did move back up when I would have contractions he would push up every contraction...I ended up having a c section with him, don't let that worry you, it's probably not the case with you! She'll be her soon!!

Some babies don't drop until labor begins. Some drop really early. When the baby drops is not a reliable indicator of when labor will begin.
With my first, she dropped 4 weeks before delivery. With my second, he dropped 4 days before, and my third didn't drop until labor was well underway.

Is this your first baby? Sometimes the baby doesn't drop for good until you actually go into laber, especially if you have had children before. With my last child, she was dropped, but after 2 days of failed induction, she went back up and turned sideways so we ended up with a c-section, because it was too risky to let me go another day to try again.
