I'm not sure that you could love and hate the same person at the same time. I think that you can love someone but hate what they are doing or what who they are with or the way that they are living their lives.. I think that you can love someone and not like them very much but I would think that hate would cancel out love not matter who that person is to you. I have a friend who has a son who's a mean son of a gun and does not treat people with much respect or consideration no matter who it is and his parents aren't any different. I think that drugs have messed with his brain because I've known him and his family since before he was born and his parents loved him spent time with him and gave him what he needed an most of what he wanted. He has several brother and sisters and none of them are as disagreeable as him. His parents love him because he's their son but they don't like him much and that's as far as I can see it going. Unless say God forbid he killed a member of the family.

Sounds a little like Sadomasochism.
Love and hate at the same exact time can only exist in a world where pain and pleasure are one and the same.
No, you can love the same person you hate and hate the same person you love, just not at the same time and for the same reason.

Oh yeah.. It is.. and it's an awful feeling.. Like when you love someone, but that person does something horrible to you.. You will hate that person for what was done, but you can't stop feeling the way you do about them.. it's difficult to deal with.. only time will tell if that person is worth the hurt and the love.. or if it's better to just let go and move on..

That is why it is called a fine line between love and hate! But hate is an emotion, with no desire to be around it ! So no it is not possible to have both these emotions at the exact same time, think about it, maybe love and anger ? or love and disagreement ?

Very much possible because we have the saying that the more you hate a person the more you love the person. The hateness you have on the person is actually rooted from the loveness you have to a person.
Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

If it's a family member, it is possible. My brother was a tormentor. A big tease. I expected him to grow out of it, but apparently, that's not the case. He did the "final straw" thing and I just walked away. At least he now knows just how much he has lost and has tried to turn his life around. Then again, it could be just another smoke screen, that he was so good at. Sad thing. I don't know it it is hate or pity, but at one time it was hate, but, if he truly asks forgiveness then I will welcome him back with open arms. That's my fault, too trusting to those I love.

Yes..but hate unites with love..it can be that you hate the person because he/she did something that made you feel concerned with him/her..you hate him/her because of what she/he did because you're concerned and that you love him/her..
