I believe that anyone who votes any straight ticket is a fool. Everyone you vote for should be investigated by you along with his opponent. Voting straight Republican or Straight Democrat is plain lazy and to be honest, cowardly.

I can't vote. I'm 15 years old. But even I can understand that you need to have a decent knowledge of the candidates' policies and position on social and economic issues, regardless of their party. I wouldn't just blindly vote for the first Democrat on the ballot, just because they're Democratic. That's just willful ignorance about what they're all about. In other words, you're voting for them for all the wrong reasons.

I usually vote a straight ticket on the national level, but for state and local offices ideology does not matter very much so I vote for competence.

I never have just done a straight ticket. I am voting this next election to get rid of all of the incumbents, just as I am very disappointed with their results.

Are their actually any Straight Republicans to vote for?

I don't have to research the candidates and their stances to know that the Democrats will be doing things I don't agree with and the Republicans will be doing things I do agree with. Anyone who has to "research" out the candidates or say they "vote the man and not the party" does not understand their own politics well enough to be voting in the first place.

I can't remember who said it, but I love the quote, "a liberal is so open-minded he won't even take his own position on his own argument." That's what your question here makes me think of.

I'm stupid enough to vote for who I think is best, regardless of what party they are in. I know I should just decide who I would rather invite to a B.B.Q., but I keep thinking I should vote for the person who is most in keeping with the issues that concern me. Please don't make fun of me for that.
