If I have volume of about 500 million a day, and I want to sell 10 million of my shares, will it sell just as fast as if I were to sell 3 million shares at a time?

I mean for someone to buy, do they have to buy all 10M at a time, or will the broker break up my shares, but it will just take longer?

Thanks

Folks who sell large blocks often get a merchant bank or brokerage to sort of presell to institutional investors or other substantial investors.

If you are talking about a pinksheets listing, though, that is why some folks pay some Russian spammer to send out cute emails, "We have a runner!" and then plug in the stock symbol of what you are trying to unload.

Nobody is going to buy either 3 million shares or 10 million shares at a time. If you have an institutional buyer, like a mutual fund, you may be able to sell a large chunk, but probably nobody is going to buy as many as 3 million. However, if you spread out the sale of your shares over a long period (a few months) the chances are that you will get the best value for your shares. If there is a glut of a particular company's shares on the market, the price of those shares is going to fall. Look at the overall daily trading volume of the shares. If 10 million shares amounts to less than one percent of that volume, then go ahead and dump all the shares at one time. But, in all likelihood, you are probably going to find that about 100,000 shares at a time will be a better way to sell. That way, you will always get a high price for your shares.
