Divers in a legal sense usually means essentially "more than once"

WIthout the context, not sure what divers assault means, but it sounds like assault on more than one victim.

The word "divers" is a legitimate word. In the UCMJ (I practice military law) divers is used to refer to "more than one or several" in a crime. If you have a soldier who repeatedly fails to report for duty, he is usually charged with failure to report on divers occassions.

I do defense work, and repeatedlly new Army prosecutors use the wrong word and either the judge at trial, or me before trial, have to tell the prosecutor to amend the charge.

1. The SPECIFIC meaning of ANY legal term depends on WHERE the question applies. Definitions ALWAYS vary somewhat by jurisdiction.

2. I am fairly certain you misspelled 'divers'. That makes any research more difficult.

I can't tell you without knowing what context the term appears in. I suggest you pick up a Black's Legal Dictionary & look it up.
