Yes, we could say they both had success in the prayer and the spell. I've had no experience with successful spells, though, so I'm not sure how useful they are. Prayer on the other hand, I have many personal proofs for. I would like to hear some success stories with spells. I have a friend who used a love spell that went terribly wrong. (Not surprisingly, seeing it is unethical.) She ended up going on meds for bipolar. I, too, would like to know if spells can be successful. Personally, I think prayer is the more spiritual option, because it respects the Divine Will. Now I think I will ask a question...

I've read that spells can come back on you but I have never had that happen to me....at least I don't think so. I've cast a few and some were not real nice towards someone else and yes, they did work.

Every relgion revolves around this particular issue. Think of the golden rule and the idea of Karma.
Most pagans believe in the idea of everthing coming back at you X's three. Generall known as and refered to in spells and ritual as the power of three times three.
In the bible it mentions to treat others the way that you wish to be treated. Most religions have this as one of thier main points of religion.
It is considered "evil" and bad form to try to get in the way of free will and control people any way you want to slice it.

If you are talking about it seriously and do the mumbo jumbo bit then I feel you are impinging on the rights of another. Those sorts of things normally turn around and kick you in the A$$.
In other cases, it is just wishful thinking, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I don't think I was ever directly taught that, not in so many words. But, now that you mention it, I wonder where I learned it from then, because that is a pretty serious an important rule.

All Pagans know that to interfere with the Freedoms of action, thought, or will by the making of a spell is cause for that spell to cause the person who promulgates the spell three fold any pain or suffering on the actions account.
This does not appear to be of any consequence to Christians as they are constantly cursing others to Hell at their personal judgment.

I've heard it said, but I still did what was necessary to get a scamming con artist acting as a Wiccan High Priest thrown back in jail. His "free will" was destroying our community (& others.)
