Has anyone here experienced a fairly mild placental abruption and been able to return to normal activity? I was just allowed to leave the hospital after monitoring for a few days for bleeding associated with placental abruption. I have been told I may not be able to return to work and will require a minimum of 2 office visits per week. I am around 29 weeks along by the way if that matters. I was just wondering what the chances are that when I go to my next appointment they will let me return to work etc.

My best friend had this condition with her third pregnancy, so I will just share what I know from her experience.

She was monitored in the hospital for a while and then was on bed rest for a couple of weeks. Then she improved slightly and was allowed to return to her normal activities for the duration of the pregnancy and delivered a healthy boy.

There's really no way to predict your outcome since every woman is different, but since you are almost at 30 weeks chances are great for and baby to be fine.

There is absolutely no way to predict. Some women have no further issues and the bleed resolves, and the doc might say it's ok to resume somewhat of a normal routine. But more often than not, they err on the side of caution and want you to limit activity and possibly go on bedrest.

Just do whatever your doctor tells you to do, have faith that they know what is best for your and baby's safety and health.

Good luck!
