Oh, you wanted miles.
Well, that's about 239,000 of them.

Like most satellites and planets, the moon's orbit is not quite circular.
At its farthest away point (apogee), it's almost 248,000 miles away.
At its nearest, it's about 235,500 miles.

However, that's the distance from the CENTER of the Earth to the CENTER of the moon. So, if you are looking at the moon, then it's about 5,000 miles closer than those numbers!.
(And about 4000 miles further from you, if you are on the opposite side of the Earth.

Of course, those are the distances, right now.
Every year, the moon moves a fraction of an inch AWAY!

For those of us still stuck in the stone age, and using the empirical system, the AVERAGE distance from the Earth to the Moon is ~240,000 miles.
I really wish we'd convert to metric...
Oh, well.

well i suppose it is around hmm 300,000 miles not exactly but around that number. I know itis a long way. You know I have always wanted to interview that armstrong man, I wonder, are his arms strong

A 3-second search on google or wikipedia would tell you - at its closest it's 363,104 km, at its farthest it's 405,696 km.
