Oscars would have no problem with sand. I use pool filter sand (diatomaceous earth) and have no issues. To clean it, use just the tube from the siphon (not the wider part that you would use for gravel) and just hover it above the sand's surface. It will take some practice, but you will eventually get to the point where you can clean the entire tank without sucking up any sand. Email me if you have any questions.

Soop Nazi

EDIT: By the way, you are gonna need a really big (100+ gallons) for two Oscars... They will each reach about 15 inches and are some of the messiest fish around.

Soup Nazi is right as always, I have oscars too, I just don't use sand, but that is exactly what was told to me when i was thinking of using sand. And the size of the tank, with 2 oscars you need 100 gallons at least.

sand looks super. the sole reason i might use sand is that if i had stay plant life, which i do no longer because of the fact i too have an oscar, and that they've a bent to manage decorations and tear up plant life (from own adventure). so circulate forward and use sand if u desire, attempt utilising the properly-known previous sand they sell at petco or some thing.
