Anyone ever heard of lavender wash/lotion having a negative effect on boys? If so, anyone know a place I can read proof of these findings? It sounds like a wives tale to me. Thanks.

Gynecomastia - the growth of breasts in males. Haven't experienced it firsthand, but have read many articles on it. Supposedly lavender and tea tree oil mimic estrogen.

Do a search for "gynecomastia lavender' and you'll find tons of results.

No, I have not heard of that at all.

I have heard about not using lavender lotions/wash on really little ones, but if I remember right, that's related to possible skin irritation from the fragrance...for the same reason you'd use unscented/sensitive laundry detergent for the first while.

???? Sounds like a wives tale to me also. I have a 2 week old little boy and I use the wash when I want to relax him and try to get him to sleep. You can't believe everything that you hear, and some people just want to scare you. Congrats on your little boy!!

Sounds like bullcrap to me. The baby bath we use for my son's nighttime bath is lavender scented, and he's just fine.

I used it on my son when he was little and it worked like a charm to settle him down. I have never heard that, and don't know what the baby's sex would have to do with anything.

Actually, I'm still using it on my 19-month old son and never used it on my now 5-year old daughter.
