When I went into the military I asked the people at MEPS the same question because my stepdad smoked marijuana. They told me it would show but due to the small amout that showed up they could also tell if it was taken in directly or through second hand.

Yes, it is possible. When you are around others that smoke, what you inhale is enough to wreck a test. You may even get "contact" and become high yourself. Tell your friend to avoid any enclosed area that others are smoking illegal substances in.

With a sufficient amount of second hand smoke, it is POSSIBLE. If you are actually exposed to that much second hand smoke, you may as well be smoking yourself.

No. The amount would have been way under the acceptable tolerance. If he tested positive, it's because he smoked it.
