where I live there is only one place to get electricity. Someplaces like Pheonix, AZ. you can choose which company you would like to choose and they also have meter that you can get placed in you house and you buy prepaid card for somemuch $ of electricity.

It depends on where you live. Most electric companies are granted exclusive franchise in a given area, however some places have been deregulated and allow you to contract with whomever you wish. The problem there is you generally contract for a period of time and will pay their rates plus the owner of the power lines get a service fee to maintain their lines. It may or may not be cheaper.

The power company is a protected monopoly.
You can go green and make it yourself, selling the excess back to the power company you seem to dislike. Request a net meter. They may even (as in my state) buy your green power back at a higher rate than they sell you power.
A lot of states have tax incentives set up to pay you back a portion of what you pay into setting up alternative (green) power at your house.
