With all the different possible views in the world, doesn't it seem unfair to teach children what to believe? also, it seems that it kind of creates a self for the child, instead of the child becoming himself. for instance, the pledge of allegiance, prayers, church/religion altogether, racism, etc etc. Isn't this just making the child think what you want, and eventually becoming whatever you want him/her to become?
I don't know. It just seems kind of wrong to me.
Any views on this?

I believe you should guide children. Allow them to recognize there are alternative lifestyles, different beliefs and diversity. Don't give biased, prejudiced opinions and allow them the opportunity to mold and form their own beliefs with an open mind. Let them know there are many options out there and to sometimes think from the heart.

1st, you are nothing like your parents are you? You have a mind to decide, right? But on the other hand, it is your obligation to nurture a child in the way they should go and they will not depart from it. Proverb 22:6.

not teaching a child anything makes him / her grow up with NO boundaries whatsoever. this leads to chaos. the pledge of allegiance was recited so that american children had a respect for their country of origin. now that we don't have it, you have americans buring their own flag, refusing to register to vote and unable to name the states that make up their country, despite yelling about keeping borders closed. without social boundaries, children grow into psychopaths who also don't respect elders, younger children or society's rules. how many meth labs and heroin junkies do you need to see to get the message.

Yes I think it is wrong tell children what to believe. Many parents "believe" that evolution is false even though it is a proven theory (theory as in theory of gravity or relativity) and teaching this "belief" to their children is totally wrong.
(sorry this answer is talking a while, discussing it with my 8 year old)
Your should give your children the skills to think critically and objectively and let them make their decision.

its no a bad thing to leave them believe what they want to believe
but is not good to let them figure every thing out by the selfs
the more you try to force it on them the more there reject it
so let them pick but if they pick the wrong way try talking to them and if that fails well thats why we have sticks

parents have to tell their children what to believe when they are little and don't know what's right and wrong. But when they get older they have to learn to decide for themselves.

I agree. Not that you should just leave them alone to figure it out, you should guild them, teach them morals, but you shouldn't try to force anything. They'll end up believe what they want regardless.
