I'm sure everyone's is different, but mine is Cast Away.
I've seen The Elephant Man......... I am not an elephant. I am not an animal. I am a human being. I am a man.

OLe Yeller!!!! Why are you all tripping. You know Ole Yeller was the sadest. Man they shot Ole Yeller - they shot him.
My other favorites are:
"Imitation of Life" or "Madame X"; both starring Lanna Turner.
Also, it is pretty sad but not thee sadest. If you like Elizabeth Taylor and you like sad movies watch "Butterfield 8". About a prostitute that has an opportunity to have "the better life", but life steps in and screws it up for the last time. I did not cry. ,but I really was pretty damn sad at the very end.

John Q.
Ladder 49
The sadest personal movie is the one we had made for my sister at her funeral. (she was 17 when she died).
But John Q and Ladder 49 are two of my favorite movies and they always bring a tear to my eye.

Frosty the Snowman,,,the original he melts and breaks
my heart. I remember once being 22 years old and babysitting one night, the mom said "oh you can watch
Frosty the Snowman the kids love it" The child aged 8 said
"no mom we cannot as it makes her cry"....ooops what
a wimpy babysitter I was...
I mean you know he is going to melt then he does
and it is all heartbreak.
