So often we assume we change our style, look, basically a whole upgrade we can keep our mate. We assume we cook more , are very passionate to them, and stay a total sweetheart - we can keep them around. This false in my opinion. I hate to see people try so hard to save something only the other person can save most of the time. A person stays if they choose to stay! No matter how beautiful ,smart, passionate, creative, wonderful, supportive and all that you are won't keep a person who doesn't choose to be kept. WHat do you think..?

I absolutely agree. And why would YOU WANT to be with someone who doesn't want to be with you anymore? I'm going through something like this right now. I keep telling my man that if he doesn't want to be with me, to PLEASE just leave and we'll be friends for the kids. He swears he doesn't want to, so I'm sticking it out. I'm grown and he's grown. If he wants to go, who am I to try to keep him? He isn't property. And if some other broad wants to deal with the drama, please help me out.
I love him to pieces and I wish him all the best, and I DO want to make things work, but it gets really exasperating sometimes.

Love is love...........it's either there or it's not. But it doesn't hurt to do all that you can to show your significant other that you DO CARE and have passion. Being supportive is needed in a relationship. Keeping your appearance up, showing your intelligence and adding creativity in your everyday life, much less your relationship are all positive things. Doing the opposite isn't going to give a person much inspiration to WANT to stay.
However, some people just choose to NOT be tied into a relationship, no matter how much the other wants to BE.

right. you can't keep anyone who doesn't want to be kept. If you try, than you'll probably get used. Its sad that people are so much in love with another person, they'll try to make themselves believe their lover is just as in love as they are. But in reality, if someone doesn't love you like you love them, they more than likely won't be around much longer

I agree with everything that you just said as when it's all said and done you can do everything in your power to keep somebody but if they don't want to be with you then you're doing it all for nothing.

You are absolutely right, and the bottom line is that love just isn't that hard. If you are trying to keep someone, they are either trying to get away from you, or they are selfish people who are taking advantage of your kindness or abusive people who enjoy seeing you suffer. You should find someone who want to be with you. They'll stay because they love you.

I agree with your statement 100%. There are those who would use the threat of leaving as leverage and a tool to control another, but a person stays because they want to and leaves when they are ready to as well.

Well, Im a bit mutual because some who only want to hurt people would probably stay to torture them more and those who do care will tell them as nicely as possible and then let them be

my ex was a family man, and he was easy going, that is why I was with him, but I was not physically attracted to him, and when we fought, it made him look even more unattractive....however if he would have gained a little weight, wore a hat more often, and got his teeth fixed, and stopped being a mamas boy, he could have kept me ! this is the truth, I need visual stimulation just like men do !
