There are some literature out and about that will give you step by step info with photos of the various knots for tying a tie. But, normally a good department store will show you how to with the purchase of a tie. Maybe even if you didn't buy it from them. Also, I have this problem too. So, when I get a tie tied, I just slip it off my head without untying it. Then the next time I wear it, I just slip it back on. www.how-to-tie-a-tie.org

The simplest knot is this:
Wide side in right hand, narrow side in left hand.
Narrow side short, wide side longer.
Hold narrow side straight out, move right side only.
Make one turn over the left side, then go around again.
Bring the right end up from underneath the middle.
Tuck it down through the top layer of the knot.
OVER, OVER, UNDER, THROUGH.
Pull all the way through, slide knot up to kneck.
