It's nothing major, but does a laser printer use more power than an inkjet? I have an HP Laserjet 4200 series about 2 months old.

I just read that this printer pulls 3,301 Watts of power during use

Yeah, when the fuser kicks on it pulls as much power as a bathroom heater (1500-1800 watts) , and you may notice a bump in your power.

Lasers use way more power than inkjets, at least while they're printing.

This is a very common occurrence when running laser printers as the fuser unit draws a lot of power as it heats up.

Tip: Ensuring that the printer has access to all the power it needs will often solve a lot of print quality issues.

Check to ensure that the outlet the printer is plugged into is on a 20 amp circuit.

Additionally, ensure that the power bar or surge protector the printer is plugged into is rated at 20 amps. If you can't tell but you're sure it's plugged into a 20 amp outlet, bypass the power bar by plugging it directly into the wall outlet.

Most manufacturer's recommend plugging the printer directly into the wall outlet to solve the flickering light problem anyway.

Yes it uses more power. Look on the label near the plug. My inkjet uses 0.4-0.2 Amps.
Your lights shouldn't flicker, it means the circuit is running too near maximum.

No, check the wiring. You may have a loose connection to the outlet.
