ACCURATE information stays on your report for 7 years. the account SHOULD show as a closed account. If it shows as open, you should contact the card company to make sure the account was actually closed and request they report that to the credit bureau. Contact information for the card issuer should be included on your report. As long as the account was not past due, it is NOT harming your FICO score.

If your gas cards are closed, and have no outstanding balances, what's the difference if they're there or not? Most things disappear in about 7 years, except bankruptcies which hang around for about 10 years.

generally things stay on your credit file for 6 years.

As long as there isn't a poor payment record it doesn't matter anyway.
