yes this is exactly my thing. It happens to me every single night. I don't even know what the doctor would do for you, seeing how with me all's he did was prescribe sleeping medicine (which isn't wrong to try to see if it works) but it didn't work on me. So then I saw a neurologist and they did some tests but couldn't "come to a conclusion" so I have no idea really, exept for at night, try reading a book or magazine to fall asleep instead of playing on the computer, watching TV, or getting up and down. Limit drinks after 7-8pm so that you won't think in your head you have to pee. And, in the morning, just force yourself to get up, and throughout the day, DO NOT take even a 10 nap. This will 100% make it so you can't fall asleep when you want. (trust me) and that's advise that came right from my doctor and the neurologist. Another thing I suggest is actually making the initial doctors appt. because with me, they did find that I have a slight thyroid problem that could be contributing to my late nights awake. Tell your doctor to run full-panel blood work to see how things are going inside. good luck!

I feel your pain. I used to suffer the same way. First if you're using chemicals of any sort other than perscription stop. They totally mess w/ur body function. After that what's keeping you awake are you watch tv if so buy a tivo. It's fantastic I don't feel like I have too finish watching a program now. Record the rest and turn the tube off. Find something that relaxs you and force yourself out of bed early. This part sucks for us night owls. If you keep doing it your body will start falling asleep earlier on it own. Also stick to a schedule don't stay up all night on the weekends. One last bit if it's hard to fall asleep get some Sominex at Walmart but you have to lay down in the dark for it to work.

Many folks do not seem to realize the symptoms of Depression. As a retired Social Worker, I would suggest that if you feel that is interfering with your daily routine, it would be best to seek a Psychologist of your choice . Ask in your health care provider which they can pay for. I would recommend yu go...... A little bit of medication , which they will find suitable for you after seeing you and diagnosing you will make you feel better. Good luck.
Another thing, If you have troubles sleeping like I do, I wake up every hour at night. But on the other hand, that's I have a new puppy and need to get her out every two hours.
Nevertheless, I am undergoing a sleep apnea test. You might wanna talk to your Physician about it. Trust me it's worth while.

You've just had nine days off work, so why didn't you go and see the doctor then? Remember that we can only give you an opinion on what is wrong. No-one on here is remotely qualified to give you a firm diagnosis and tell you what to do! It could be any number of things, you really need to see GP and have some blood tests. There is anaemia, thyroid, diabetes to mention a few which can all cause tiredness. do you take any other medication as they may be the culprits. You may have an infection, these are just a few things what could cause it. Like I said you need to see your GP. He does get paid for looking after you anyway!

Someone mentioned taking a tylenol pm. I like taking those but I suggest you only take one at first. If I take two, I'm sleepy all day long, but if I take only one than I'm fine. If you haven't already done so, you need to incorporate some kind of exercise. It's hard at first, but when I exercise I have so much more energy during the day. Eat a healthy breakfast. There are many different combinations of healthy breakfast. I personally like Dr Sears online breakfast options. Also someone mentioned a blood test, which is a really good idea as you may be anemic.

Take a relaxing bath and drink a small glass of wine at bedtime. Think relaxing thoughts, not about your problems. Make sure the bed is comfortable and the sheets are clean. Read a light novel for about half an hr.
If that doesn't work, try Tylenol PM. You'll get a good night's sleep and wake up refreshed.

I have the same problem. IT never really goes away. Some people are morning people, and some people aren't. I ended up getting 3rd shift jobs because I loved being able to sleep during the morning. I don't really know how I can help. Ive spoken to my dr about it, he says i may not get enough iron. I suggest setting your alarm clock for the morning and waking up no matter what and then stay up during the day no matter how tired you are. Eventually you will get used to getting up in the morning. Its all about training yourself to do it.

You should go to your G.P and get a thyroid test. Its a simple blood test. I was the same a few years ago, couldn't get out of bed for love nor money. I just plodded along because I thought everyone else was doing the same. Had a blood test, found to have hypothyroidism, pop a pill once a day and I sleep like a hedgehog during hibernation. Do it.

Try cutting things like coffe, tea and coke out of your diet. Replace with water, water and more water. Drink as much of it as you can. Study you sleep pattern ... are you going to bed with the tele/comp/music (stimulating your mind). Try reading a book instead. When you turn off the light, slow your mind down ... find a happy place to go to i.e. a beach and actually look at the place in your mind. Use this combination of rehydration and peace and see what happens.

No coffee or any other stimulating drinks after 5 pm.
No Internet after a certain cut-off time (say 08h00)
Same with television.
Don't take a very interesting book to bed, take a mug of hot milk with sugar, instead.
You have to reduce all your evening stimulation, you see.
Being able to sleep earlier and longer should have a beneficial effect on you in the mornings - and that's when you get your coffee!!
You have to get into a sleeping pattern.
