Is the quickest way to do it moving to New York and going to different agencies? And am I too old to even try? I'm 22 years old and I recently dropped out of college and I want to try being a model. I've always wanted to but my mom wouldn't let me and now that I'm old enough to do what I want I want to give it shot. I already have some photos done at a professional studio for my porfolio, but is moving to New York a wise thing to do?

NY is definitely model central, but you can start wherever you're at to build your resume. You're not too old, but you are older than most models starting out so don't waste time. I wouldn't publish my age either, and like the other lady said, go camera ready to all your meetings. Send what you have to modeling agencies as long as you meet their criteria. Check their websites to see what they're looking for. Yes, you generally have to be 5'8" or even 5'9" or taller and thin. You could also specialize if you're plus size or petite so that's something to consider.

Not necessary, sweetie.
My daughter models. She goes through newyorkcastings.com. She didn't join an agency because she's short and all the agencies want wafer thin chicks with heights of 5"8 and above.. Still, she's done some work. She's been on several go-sees and has been in videos, a commercial and has been on go-sees with my other daughter. She messed up a go-see for a book cover because she didn't wear any make-up to the session. She messed up on a shoot for Spiderman 3 because she didn't get there early enough. So, one thing to remember, here is the preparation before. Go in early, be the first they look at and have a great head-shot done. No cheesy smiles, show very little teeth and honest eyes. You have to be professional and look like you're ready to take pics when you get there.
Now, check out the site and go on those go-sees. (Get a part time job to keep the food on the table though.)
Good luck!

You're not too old to try, if you meet the high physical standards for professional modeling. But it's probably wiser to apply to the agencies before moving there outright. It is a murderously expensive city to live in, so you need a job or a whole lot of money.

Don't let anyone on this site influence you, but housing in new york is currently very expensive. Make plans for food, shelter, transportation, and taxes before you go.
Good luck
