It's a family place. I don't think it's right. I even have several gay people as friends and the majority of them don't believe it's right. Some of them actually go though. When disney tried sending out letters of warning to families going to visit that week, gays tried suing disney. Why can't they do it somewhere that's not family oriented? You have to admit... even if you're gay... its really wrong.

I have been trapped there TWICE during gay days. Thankfully my man did not wear red!

I really do not care that they are there. However, they tend to act very sexually in public. This is very inappropriate in Disneyland for ANYONE, gay or straight. You can say something to straight people, like, "Do you mind? My kid is only 3." Straights always apologize and that is the end of it. However, you say something to a gay man and he freaks out and makes a scene. Once I asked one to stop smoking (DIsneyland is non-smoking) and he pitched a fit about being gay and I was denying him his rights. I honestly though he was going to hit me, it was that bad.

So, bottom line, come to DIsneyland, but leave the bumping and grinding at home.

BTW, most of the openly gay people you see there have no children with them. They come as couples on a date, not with their children.

No one would know they were gay if they weren't all over each other all of the time.

Just about every amusement park has some sort of 'red day' or 'gay day'. I believe the tradition started as a result of the Gay Pride movement in the late 60's and 70's. The reason behind it is to bring social awareness of how many people are gay - to demonstrate that being gay is very common and not some that can just be brushed aside or ignored.

For those that feel that being gay is somehow a bad thing, observing such a sea of red shirts can possibly help them understand that gay people are not different from straight people. For gay people that are struggling with coming out or are recently out of the closet, seeing so many other gay people identified can be extremely positive - showing that they are not alone, and that they belong. For gays and lesbians that have long been out, it can simply bring a feeling of camaraderie. For some, it can just be that feeling of being part of something bigger than just themselves.

Some folks that are against such gatherings may fear that because they're gay, they're going to do everything that makes them gay, which means they're going to have gay sex all over the park. Well, that's a pretty big box to put all gays in. I don't believe gays are having any more sex in the park than straight folks. They are enjoying rides, they are eating junk food, they are laughing, they are screaming on the roller coasters, they're taking care of their kids, they're having a fun time... they are doing exactly the same thing as everybody else.

When I go to a baseball game, the announcer or the scoreboard proclaims "Welcome [group name]". They welcome the Immanuel Lutheran Church group from upstate that is in attendance. They welcome the local Rotary Club group. They welcome the Bob Smith family who are there celebrating Bob's 80th birthday. They welcome the Classic Car Club or the Rochester girl's peewee baseball league or the regional Toby Keith Fan Club. Why do they get special attention? Certainly a day at the ballpark is a family event. Why are all these special groups being called out? They are all coming to enjoy the group's company, and to enjoy the activity.

Besides, Disney parks feature and welcome all kinds of special group days. Why does Christian music get an annual "Night of Joy"? Why do soap opera fans get a "Super Soap Weekend"? Why do sports fans get an "ESPN The Weekend"?

It's the exact same thing for gays. They're there to enjoy Disney.

They do have a "gay Day" with the objective to chat however the gay community does do it on it is very own at Disney. I certainly have asked approximately this such element and replaced into advised they attempt to inform people earlier than time so as that they'd appreciate the actuality that some mothers and dads are indignant and don't prefer their little ones around it. wish this facilitates! :)

Name an amusement park that is not family oriented. See the problem? It's 1 day out of 365! But I do think they should be able to send the letter to let people know what day, in case they do have a problem with it. Just common sense.

Disney has a long history of obscenities. There's a cloud in the movie "Lion King" that spells out the word "sex". In "The Rescuers" there is a scene where you can see a topless woman through one of the windows. Don't you tell me that Disney is this pristine haven of clean family values. And besides, as long as the gay couples aren't having sex in front of everyone, toss a dog a bone, let the baby have his bottle, etc etc etc.

Because it is a big entertaining place that costs a lot of money and tries to present a pristine image that does not include any aspect of homosexuality while a huge portion of the Hollywood creative community is gay (without being promiscuous.)

I don't admit that. It's open to all and gay or not the public is welcome.

I did end up there on a gay week and was with my sister, both of us are straight but I wasn't going to wear a tee shirt announcing that fact. I figure let people think whatever they'd like to think.

Well news flash Gay people can go where ever they want and do basically what they want to do. The only difference is I think is they could limit there kissing in public and go on. But I wouldn't band them from Disney or anywhere else they are human like anyone else. If your open minded then you have no problems.

That's weird, the majority of gays that I know love this weekend.

So, you're saying because families are there, gay people can't meet up there?

There's names for people like you - even if you do have "several gay people as friends".

Ok, so all the great gay families with kids, shouldn't be able to go places with their children? OH, sorry ma'am, but they have every right to be there just as much as you! God, is there something wrong with other people seeing gays and lesbians? It would only open there minds to be more accepting. If you want to have ignorant kids, its fine be me, just keep them away from people.
