i was on wikipedia looking at my zodiac sign which is a sagittarius and it says im compatible with a scorpio but on the scorpio page it says opposite compatible. so what does opposite compatible mean?

It's the sign that is six months distant from yours. I'm Aries, so mine is Libra.

The reason for the discrepancy is that astroLOGY has no scientific basis - astrologers can't even get the basic facts of constellations and astroNOMY correct.
Sorry, but we can't help with non-scientific myth - try asking in Mythology or Entertainment, someone there might have some excuse or explanation for this.
