whenever I visit my husbands family they often ask why don't I cut my sons hair. I ask them why should I? The response always is because he's a boy. As if I'm unaware of that fact. It's irrelevant to me. I'm just wondering is it because they're in a small town it's such a far reaching concept for a guy to have long hair (he's only 4 years old. when he's older and cares to cut it/have a mohawk or whatever design that's fine w/ me)? I've seen university aged students in the main city of alex and cairo w/ longer hair like the soccer players, so is it THAT weird for egypt?
A ? From the adult perspective: if a grown guy has gorgeous hair (i.e., nice, wavy well taken care of rocker/drummer style) and it's long and worn in a low pony tail/stylishly do you think he should cut it? If he has a handsome face + nice hair that's long, is he considered hot as he would be out west? Or does having long hair just make him socially unacceptable in some way?

he likes his hair long for the moment. it's growing out again. I cut it when he asked for a hair cut near the beginning of this year.

Long hair on a male so long as its clean and well cared for can be a very attractive asset,I especially like guys with their long hair in a low pony tail,or even a plait, now that can look really hot when its done in a barbarian high set plait!
Here in Egypt it is actually pretty rare to see males with hair longer than their shoulders, and the mullet is a pretty scarce look here as well. That I am so glad of, because I think it is one of the worst hairstyles a man can have. For me a complete turn off, it always reminds me of really bad late 70,s fashion.
On your little man, I think that wearing his hair long is fine so long as he likes it,they can really look so cute.
But once he begins school you may want to cut it shorter as head lice are a real problem in schools all over the world, so it seems.
My pet hate is balding men who grow the long lock and then very carefully cover their bald spot with it. When they bend down or get caught in a wind its oops, one long daggy strand hanging from a bald head and a very red face.
Not a good look. LOL!

He is a child now, but will get used to it, and will have low self esteem. The reason is that he will not see one in a high ranking position with long hair. We do not see a university professor, a doctor, a minister, a bank employee, a business man, a diplomat, a TV announcer, a department store manager or even seller with long hair. Aim high and give him a good picture of the future so that his self image aims high too.

I find long hair very attractive on men. Saying that, I have to say that my other half is bald...sniff, sniff....
I had always said that I would never date a man with short hair. When he and I went out on our first date, (it was a blind date set up by one of our mutual friends) he arrived at my door wearing a baseball cap. Nothing unusual I thought, since he is a truck driver and there was hair hanging out the bottom of that baseball cap....little did I know.....
We got to the restaurant, sat down and he took off his hat. Well my mouth kicked into gear before my brain. I said: "Your bald! Michelle didn't tell me you were bald!"
After I pulled my foot out of my mouth, we had a good laugh and here we are, 8 years later.
I used to tell people who complained about men with long hair, that if G-d wanted men to have short hair he would have given them non-growing hair follicles.
Anyway, let your sons hair grow as long as you want to. When he is ready to cut it he will make that choice or he will chose not to. I'm sure it is lovely the way it is now!

long hair on some men adds to their masculinity not the opposite, but this is my personal opinion and it depends doesn't suit all types of hair, here it isn't really accepted, in spite of the fact that the new generations are starting to pull themselves away from older traditions

just let him wear his hair above the ears..don't worry about them,it's their opinion and ask the child if he wants to cut his hair.I think long hair is nice on boys..not too long, just a little below the ears is fine.Girls and boys..it's just hair..it's not a problem...
