I've just renovated my bathroom and the final thing was to install our new toilet - it doesn't fit!!! We went back to the store and they said all toilets are a standard size - the problem is there is only 10 inches between where the bolts go and the wall and we need 12 for any of the toilets that are now made. Any ideas???????

Try another store or call around. It is called a " 10"rough". What you are being told is that they only carry 12" rough toilets. The 10" may be a bit harder to find and you may need to go to Plumbing Supply store, but they DO make them.

It sounds like you had a skinny potty real close to the wall. I think you have to bite the remodeling bullet, move the bolts and possibly the plumbing to accomodate the current size of toilets.

I'd try checking into toilets at Lowes and Home Depot to validate what you were told at the store. You could also check in with Crane or at Kohler (link below). Kohler makes some unusual products, and so might be a source.

Good Luck!

There are actually adapters made for just this problem. What you need now is a good plumbing supply store. I would suggest that you do some yellow pages work.

There is a solution to every problem and this one is no exception.

The plumbing supply will have an adapter that is an offset to solve your problem. It moves the toilet flange forward.
