At this point, I'm thinking cremated. My father has been and my mother will be when her time comes. It somehow just seems "cleaner" than burial.

I do withhold the right to change my mind though. The natural burials in a forest sound kind of cool too.

And what's the deal with Julia?...That was a pretty harsh answer.

I'd like to be buried under a tree, or cremated and have my ashes buried under a tree. The tree part is important; I love the idea of the atoms that were me becoming part of the tree...

EDIT - thinking about what Tamart said I'd rather be buried in a cardboard box and a tree planted on top!

Cardboard coffin then cremation with the ashes being used to feed the roots of a sapling. What's the point in a dead body taking up space on an overcrowded planet? Plus, I selfishly don't fancy being dug up and reconstructed by some future version of those Time Team idiots.

Rather than leave my family to worry about the things involved with a funeral, I have chosen to be cremated. I will have made all necessary financial arrangements so that should make things easier on everyone. In our area, cremation costs about 1/3 of the average funeral service.

Agree with Bogpony. My daughter is an archaeologist, who loves finding and digging up remains from burials and cremations. Roman cremations were quite incomplete. She found an iron age skeleton, complete with accompanying pot recently. There's no way her successors are digging me up. Remains are now treated with respect, and the handling of them controlled by law, but what might happen in a few thousand years time? I want my ashes scattered in the garden near my late cats. Don't want to spend eternity in the local Church graveyard, it's a bleak and windy place.

Cremated, after seeing some horror film years ago about someone being buried alive.

Well, I couldn't stand the chance of accidently being buried alive, so if I were to be buried, I'd have to have a bell with a rope going down, just in case. Then I saw a tv drama about someone being shoved into a coffin just before it went in the crem, So now I need a rethink....

i'm thinking buried. I observed a pair of episodes of a few shows the place the guy had to be cremated yet they wound up getting used for some thing else. i desire to establish that i be attentive to the place i'm going.

Definately cremated.I don't like the idea of letting my body rot away.Plus being buried ,to me,seems like a waste of land.My ashes would be kept in a memorial wall which are very well kept and much less expensive to keep up than a grave so it won't be as much of a burden on my family.Hopefully it will be long time yet!

I plan on cremation. Something about being buried has bothered me since I was a child. I know rationally there is no way I can be buried alive but it still bothers me. I told my daughter she can keep me on her fire place mantel or spread my ashes in the ocean. I'm not picky. : )
