l truly believe that people who are actually gay/lesbian are BORN that way--this is NOT a chosen life style. I also believe that they KNOW that they are by the time they are between 6 and 8 years old, although may NOT realize what it is. All they know at this young age is that they are different than other boys/girls. As we all know, girls mature sexually much faster than boys. By the time a "strait" girl is between 9-11 years old, she'll be having big-time "crushes" on boys at school, various singers, movie stars, etc. But, a girl who is a lesbian will find no interest in these "hot" guys, but she WILL be finding herself having perhaps "girl-crushes" on a classmate, best friend, female entertainers, etc. For boys, it usually takes them to between the ages of 12 to 14 (age of puberty) to begin questioning the possibility of "I wonder if I could be gay? How do I really know? Then, comes all the mixed emotions and questions, the denial, the trying to "cover", etc.
I also believe that there should be support groups for young teens/pre-teens (somewhat like A.A., but NOT a 12-step program), where they can be completely annomous (no last names EVER disclosed, and fake FIRST names are acceptable), where they can meet with other young people who are going through these same feelings. There should be a (totally un-biased) Licensed Clinical Social Worker as a moderator for these groups. This should be someone who is NOT connected with ANY of the local schools or places or Worship, but rather, a person who is in private practice (perhaps a child psychologist) who thoroughly understands all the mixed emotions of the pre-teen/teenage years, and can give good advice on how to deal with what these young people are feeling, how to cope with these mixed emotions, whether they should or should NOT approach their parents about the subject, and the list goes on and on. . . And finally, I firmly believe that the public-at-large needs to be medically informed that a person who is TRULY gay or lesbian is this way because they were born with a couple of different chromosomes than a "straight" person, and there is nothing they can do about it. I am NOT talking about these various Hollywood Stars who "come-out" simply for the publicity involved or because it makes great headlines. Oh no, I also believe that at least 1/2 of these are completely FAKE--this just happens to be the "chosen" lifestyle of the decade. I also believe that people who claim to be bi-sexual are a complete JOKE! YOU know WHAT you are! THIS is a "CHOSEN" life-style. You simply want the best of both worlds. I could go even farther into this, but I won't. Not here, and not now--perhaps later. Hope this gives you some in-sight on how I view this. I happen to be a straight female, but I've been around gay/lesbian people all of my life, and I surely have nothing against ANY of them.

I guess he means that his friend masturbated to his gay fantasies ever since he knew he was gay.
I guess I knew I was attracted to guys when I had a crush on my friend in 1st Grade. Though at the time, I was attracted to girls too. I kinda just shrugged the thoughts off until I got to 6th grade when they really started to come about. I finally came to the realization that I'm gay or at least fully attracted to other guys at the end of 8th Grade. I'm still trying to figure out whether I'm gay or bisexual since I'm only in the 10th Grade.

I've always been a lesbian. I didn't know the word for it until I was about 11, and didn't openly acknowledge it to others until I was 14. But, my first crush was on a girl in the 1st grade. I always pictured myself marrying another woman when I thought about being a "grown up". My family has known I was lesbian since I was 3 years old, according to both my parents AND my grandmother.

I knew when I was 8 years old and in second grade. That's when I began masturbating to dry orgasm. I remember we had a music class for one hour a week in elementary school where we learned to sing different songs and play basic instruments (recorder for example). One day we had to do basic line dancing where the boys and girls lined up and faced each other. Everyone in the line held hands so you were holding the hand of someone of the same sex and there was this boy who I always thought was really cool and the moment I held his hand, I knew I loved him. I always felt guilty though because I grew up thinking that boys and girls were always supposed to be with each other and get married and was under the impression that if two people of the same sex liked each other they were perverted and mentally ill. This was even shown in Disney movies I watched growing up, it was always boys and girls falling in love. It wasn't until I was in high school that I knew I was normal and comfortable with my sexuality.

Since before I knew it was called Gay. Actually it was called being queer then. When I found out it was considered bad, I was afraid people would find out about me.

Wait...what does his masterbating have to do with him being gay?
And most people realize later in life that they are actually gay...but then look back and understand that they were gay all along but couldn't really understand or accept it at the early age.

Dude, when you're gay, trust me you'll know you are. You'll have wet dreams over guys instead of girls.
