Delivery is usually easier and faster the second (and third, and fourth, and so on) time around. Your body has already been stretched out once, so the muscles now "know" what to expect.

Congrats on baby #2!

Well my first was an induction so anything is an improvement to that. My second I started labor at home 8am...... I didnt go to the hospital until 7:15 pm and he came at around 8 pm I did not have any drugs at all.... It was painful but a lot faster at only 12 hours vs. my first which took 22 hours. He was also a much bigger baby however at 9 pounds 2 oz and I tore really badly at my old epis. site... Im not very big at all so that was a chore.

Every pregnancy and labor and delivery is different, BUT it is usually MUCH easier the second time around. Your body just seems to knows what to do. You have a better idea of what to expect and aren't as nervous so your body is less tense and the muscles that were once super tight have loosened to allow the birth to progress much smoother and quicker.

My daughter was a painful labor until the epidural and the delivery was a breeze! She was 9lb 7oz. Now my son,who was my 2nd, I my labor wasn't really that bad. I was almost a 9 before I asked for my epidural. The delivery wasn't so bad but he as 9lb 15oz so I tore really bad. I would think though that if you have a normal size baby, the experience woudl be along the same lines as your first.

It tends to be a bit faster the second time. In my experience, the second delivery was actually harder than thre first, but it was significantly quicker (water broke at 7:30PM, serious contractions around 9PM, baby arrived at 12:25 AM). It was exhausting. However, my recovery was much quicker.

I had three children, all natural childbirth. The first, in labor 17 hours, in the hospital 8 hours before she was born; second, in labor 5 hours, in the hospital 40 minutes before she was born. The third, in labor 3 hours, in the hospital 16 minutes before he was born. I stopped after that!

My second delivery was way easier, mostly because he was face down, unlike his stubborn brother, who was head down, but face up looking over my left hip.

In general, second deliveries tend to be easier, as your muscles, etc, in there have been stretched and strained once already, and so tend to be more lax...but it's no guarantee.

Good luck!

It was different in that my water broke the second time but not the first. It was faster, but more intense.
