unfortunately i am a pro at this. the tool you need is called a paper tiger (available at your local hardware store ($5-$7) this puts thousands of tiny little holes in the paper . then buy a product called DIFF concentrate (hardware or paint store $15-$20) and a pump sprayer (hardware store ($20) now use the paper tiger and perforate the walls the more holes the better. then mix the diff and red hot water in the pump sprayer and spray the walls. go have a sandwich and comeback and spray the walls again. you should see the paper start to fall off. repeat this process until the paper pretty much falls on the floor by itself. then mix more diff in a bucket with the water as hot as you can take it and get an old bath towel. dip the towel in the bucket and start wiping the remainder of the glue off the wall. once you are all cleaned up apply a good coat of quality primer and paint away. steamers remove the paper but the glue remains. and unless you are really careful a scraper will gouge the walls which will require Spackle before paint. last thing DO NOT paint over the glue. it reacts with the paint and you will not be happy. good luck!!! it not as hard as it seems.

Forget everything you see on here and listen. I've been doing this for over twenty years.

Go to home Depot and get a pint of "Diff" wallpaper remover, some plastic gloves and a sponge mop. Cover your floor with plastic and take a five gallon pail, put the diff into five gallons of hot water. Mix it good, now take the sponge mop and go around the room, once around, you'll notice the paper loosening, then go around again, then wait five minutes, then do it a third time, by now the paper should be falling off the walls.

My crew has been doing this for twenty years now, it's the best we've found for removing wallpaper.

If it is a vinyl wallpaper start at a seam corner and rip as much of the vinyl off as you can, spray with HOT water and fabric softner
spray the wall with the mixture and let set a few minutes and spray again then take a putty knife and just scrape the backing of the wall paper off, be sure to keep the wallpaper backing wet and work in small areas at a time, when you have the backing off wash the walls down with TSP to remove any excess glue....

Vinegar and water50/50 sprayed on the wall paper and let soak for a few minutes then scrape off gently. The vinegar dissolves the glue in the wall paper so it can be removed.
If this is being done on a wall with plaster and lath under the paper just a warning it may not work in some cases there are so many layers of paper on these type of walls it is very difficult to remove any type of covering without damaging the walls and then that gets very involved to repair.

There is a tool that is used to make small cuts into the paper. It just sits in the palm of your hand. Just use it on the paper. And then you can use either a mixture of vinegar and water or hot water and fabric softner. Spray on and let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes. And then your paper should come off realitively easy. Just make sure that you get all of the glue off. I have noticed that I have better luck with the water/fabric softner. But try one and if that does not work than try the other.

First score the paper all over to allow for the remover to sink in. Then forget buying toxic smelly and expensive wall paper removers. Just go out and get some liquid fabric softner and spray that on the paper. After 15-20 minutes try scraping off the paper. If your really lucky you might even be able to peel it down in big pieces. Good luck to you!

You can rent a steamer and the perforated tool, role the tool along the wall paper, this will put tiny holes in the paper allowing the steam to penetrate the paper ,,peel off or you may have to use a putty knife to loosen the paper ,,be careful not to dig to deep into the wall ,,you may have to patch small scratches with sheet rock mud ,, sand ,,paint or rehang new paper

The best way is to use a steamer. Check out the prices for buying or hiring.
