It is not a hobby but something I have to do for some reason. I just love my plants and they love me back. I do most of my meditating when I am tending my plants. I can hardly wait to plant the violas so I will have something beautiful that will bloom through the winter.

It's personal with me. Next to God, it defines who I am more than anything else except for music.

I have a garden, it started out for practical reasons. Then I maintained other peoples' flower gardens, this became work.
One day I said "I can't believe I get payed for this', so it became my hobby while I was payed.
I fell I love with flowers, all types of blooms.
Now I feel that gardens are a place where the heavens meet the earth.

Hobby. I just love gardening. I love flowers, and green, green grass. My home in South Africa had more glass than walls, and wherever you were you felt you were part of the garden. And lots of ponds and water. It's a practical hobby. because flowers and plants enhance a house, and also give it more value, when the time comes to sell. I could not imagine a house without a garden full of beautiful plants.

Yes I have a garden. Its my therapeutic hobby garden. Its a get away from all the daily routines that grinds at one. I might not get everything to grow, but its just being out there that is best. So the things that grow is my reward for the hobby that it is. And picking tomatoes to have with breakfast on a Sunday morning is the best. Green fried tomatoes with eggs and bacon.

The flowers are more of a hobby. I also have a small vegetable garden that we eat from all summer. I still have tomatoes growing and made a pot of homemade chili yesterday with them.

Hobby been about 18 years since it was necessity. Some of my adult children have gardens for food and hunt to supply the meat for the freezer. But they do it for economics and because they live in small towns in Wisconsin and they'd be overun with deer and turkey if they did not hunt.

I guess it is a hobby, but I just love to see pretty flowers and plants. Next year I am doing roses in pots! I hope I can find some with a scent.

I grew okra, tomatoes, potatoes, onion, peas, cucumber, squash and green beans. My freezer is packed.
A vegetable garden provides fresh healthy vegetables all summer. I'm not sure it's practical considering the work and time invested but the tasty produce is worth it.
The taste of corn on the cob picked in the morning and eaten that afternoon can't be beat.

I have a perennial garden and I enjoy working in it and sharing plants with the neighbours . After 28 years, things have a habit of spreading. It's a great ice breaker when new neighbours move in and comment on the flowers. I always say "if you see anything you like ,let me know. " They did and they were out till 10 at night planting ,but they had smiles on their faces. I love it.
