I'm 26, I slaved myself for 2 companies after college, and I never got anywhere.
Every magazine seems to have articles about how to be on your boss' good side, how to get a long with your co-workers, and how to climb on the corporate ladder.
Every magazine seems to have them, fitness magazines, variety magazines, and even science magazine. I was addicted to these articles trying to get ahead in my company. But after so much frustration, I quit, and started my own business last year.

I'm doing great. I set own my office without kissing up to anyone, I give myself raises everytime I work hard and get good profits, I don't have to care about being on anyone's good side.

The weird thing now is how addicted I was to these "how to get ahead" articles. They are everywhere, I never realized you don't see any advice for people who have small businesses.

What magazine has articles for people with their own small business?

There are the general magazines on entrepreneurship such as

Entrepreneur http://www.entrepreneur.com
Inc http://www.inc.com
Fast Company http://www.fastcompany.com
Black Enterprise Magazine http://www.blackenterprise.com/
Home Business Magazine

And then there are the specific ones, depending on your industry

Art Business News http://www.artbusinessnews.com
Greetings Etc (for the greeting card business) http://www.greetingsmagazine.com/greetings/index.shtml
and so on

I second what Karlee said, I pick up Entrepreneur Magazine and Inc Magazine, both have been VERY good for small business people.

There are a lot of others out on the newsstands and in the magazine area at Barnes & Noble book stores, but these two really do stand out.

You can also do a google search for 'marketing articles' and find a whole host of good information. The only think I've never had a large success researching was trade show information on how to set up, what to focus on to maximize sales, etc. The trade show stuff seems to be a really right niche market that not much has been written about.

If there are vacant properties on your area, how some "living house watch" provider the place you bypass and take photos and do inspections each and each month to work out if the backyard business enterprise, pool business enterprise, etc. that the assets proprietor has employed is honestly doing the interest. What grew to become into your college considerable? What do you desire to do on your spare time (if any)? those are solid the thank you to foretell which niches you will prevail in.
