Never in a million years - half the time these degrees aren't worth the paper they're printed on ! ! !

Not really. I'm taking up an MBA but have decided to postpone it for the while. I just don't get what's being thought at Graduate School. Having an MBA doesn't necessarily mean you're smarter. It just means you've got a bit of an edge when it comes to passing your resume. Somebody with an Master's Degree will be more attractive to an employer rather than a simple College Graduate. Of course, it all really depends on the person applying. Is he/she good enough for the company? Must he/she have an MBA? Different jobs require different types of skills. Only those qualified for these jobs get hired. I strongly believe that it's regradless if you have a Master's Degree or not. An MBA is just a bait to lure employers to you. It doesn't guarantee having one means he knows more than you.

No, not necessarily. You can be smart having obtaning a honours degree. Not all people carry on for a masters. Its doesnt make you any smarter, it shows that you have studied that little bit extra and are a bit more determined than the rest.

It depends: if you got out with a masters, framed your diploma on the wall and started making your millions, it means you are real smart. If you use the masters degree as first stop on the path to phd, you are DUMB DUMB DUMB. I have two masters degrees, one in stat and one in math, the former earned from a college in india with a 0.5% acceptance rate. The math masters was earned from an ivy league US univ where I am working on my phd now... currently making way less than minimum wage and am planning to buy a used car if I am among the lucky 30% who will be employed when I finish phd next yr. So you see ... it depends on how you are using your masters.

No.... It just means you passed the classes and requirements for a masters. I know others who have a limited education who make it point to keep on learning.( Who I would consider smart.)

In retrospect, if I'd been smart, I wouldn't have gotten a masters degree. Or at least not the one I did - microbial genetics. Believe it or not - nearly useless. I now write financial software.

No, it just means you went to a lot of school and passed some tests.
In fact... there are many people out there with Master's Degrees that are blithering idiots. Some of them are even in Congress.

My mom always likes to tell me about the story of a family friend of ours that got a bachelors degree in Spanish Language and cannot hold a conversation in Spanish at all. (She is fluent, so she knows this)
It just shows, that just about anyone who wants to can get a degree.

No, but usually smart people find it easier to obtain Masters degrees.

The 'smart' part of having the degree is the extra earning power it affords the person smart enough to earn it !
