I can't believe it's been a month and I still here people complaining about the general betrayus ad. When I heard about it I just thought it was juvenile. I would have forgotten all about it by now, but flipping through the channels I see fox news is still talking about it. If you don't agree with it that's fine, but they had every right to do it under the first amendment. Not to say the democrats typical cowardly reaction of going along with the republicans and condemning the ad was anything to be proud of. Does it make you proud to see you're tax dollars at work as congress wastes their time condemning the ad (which means absolutely nothing)? It's not like we don't have important issues facing America right now, When are people going to wake up and see "issues" like this for the smoke screen they are?

If you're not against free speech then you must agree that move on had the right to post their ad, no matter how you personally feel about it right?

silly people you're confusing yahoo with America, like any BUSINESS they have the right to censor the FREE service they place here, if you don't like it you have the RIGHT to go somewhere else. maybe that's it, maybe you all are just confused.

So at least a few republicans answered the question, the rest just tried to turn the conversation around, completely ignoring the question and ranting about something that had nothing to do with it, or just didn't read any more than the headline.....

oh I get it now you're mad about the discount... how dare a business try to set it's own prices, what do they think this is... America or something?

It's just a common tactic used to divert our attention from the real problems this administration faces.

I Love free speech. Moveon.org certainly has the constitutional right to say what ever it feels. They also should be held liable for their statements if they are false. Just like any other person. A big trend today is to try and silence a person or orginization when they do not like what is being said. Instead of excercising our right to turn off the TV, leave the area, or my personal favorite tell the person they are an ***hole and move on with my day.

The only time I ever want people to curb what they are saying is around children.

MoveOn acted very sensibly in running that ad just a few days after our Warmonger-in-Thief flew to Iraq to coach him... **in person**. The Commander-in-Chief. That's PRESSURE, to serve Bush's agenda.

I don't think the General lied -- but after that, he very well COULD have betrayed us.

In any case, we need to get out of Iraq NOW. Before Bush causes any more innocent Iraqis to be mudered (at over 100,000 so far, he's already the worst mass-murderer since Pol Pot), and any more of our brave soldiers to be slaughtered FOR NOTHING!!

This Patriotism Trump Card the Republicans feel they can use whenever they want to silence free speech is really wearing transparent. The play on words MoveOn used overshadows the facts of the ad itself, which none of them could dispute. I think it was a mistake by any Democrat who bit on that Patriotic nonsense. Republicans seem to honor free speech, as long as it's them that does the talking.

enable me to handle this astute fact, merchandise by skill of merchandise, as logically as i can. you're saying - "every time somebody sees a difficulty and can provide thoughts they are against the president, the republican social gathering or a traitor." ok, i think we can assume that she is talked approximately as a traitor whilst holding "thoughts" to the subjects of the rustic - precise, "thoughts". right here is the problem honey - the worldwide has yet to work out any democrat with thoughts, in basic terms aimless, senseless, incoherent, inane, drivel and baseless accusations commencing from "the president raised gas expenditures - to he ate my homework" enable me furnish help to connect the dots - you have misplaced the final 8 ELECTIONS. Counting the mid words for the two properties and the presidential races. What does that inform you? It tells me the persons of this usa have not heard democrats with any "thoughts" to the subjects of the rustic and have not any self assurance in what democrats attempt to explode their *sses. you're saying - "whilst did we lose unfastened speech?" whats up this is ridiculous to something of it, yet isn't that what you're doing precise now, expressing your opinion? so which you get talked approximately as an fool - did your examine your question? from time to time if the shoe fits.......... you're saying "isn't a dictatorship one that tells you what to have faith and don't say something against it." Yeah, yet you forgot another massive distinction - Dictators are actually not inevitably voted into place of work by skill of a majority of the populous.

I think the concern with most people is less that they posted an ad in the newspaper, and more that they got a discount of over 100,000 dollars - a discount that an organization with a view different from theirs or that of the Times would get when Hell freezes over. Also that the majority of Democrats in Congress didn't condemn the ad for being juvenile, stupid and a baseless insult to the integrity of the armed forces at the outset.

The fact that you call owning up to the truth a "cowardly reaction" says a lot about what side of the pond you suck the scum off of.

if you continue to watch that channel that is all you will hear, not a news out let but an entertainment station that feeds that kind of slop to their con base.
it was their swift boat attack on a war hero and respected senator of long standing that made every soldier a target if he/she runs for office.
they have no shame and have brought hypocrisy to new lows all while they hide behind the military.
to quote a famous man"patriotism is the last refuge to which a scoundrel claim"
your question should read--republicans are against free speech.

They had the right to run the ad.
We have the right to condemn them for it.
We also have the right NOT to vote for any candidate who doesn't condemn it.
In the end, moveon.org will be just a disgraceful episode in American history and will have no more significance than Pauly Shore... but right now, a lot of the less educated Democrats are listening to them.

Now, if you'd like to see anti-free speech... check out the Liberals and their 'Fairness Doctrine', aimed at silencing talk radio because every time a Lib tries to have one, it tanks.

(oh and thumbs down me all you want, Liberal Idiots... because we all know the truth HURTS. Where's the Liberal talk show host? Unemployed)

They are still hurting because the most obvious of puns also struck to the bone of the reality.

His own troops were using that name for years, because it matched his personality. One has to suspect that his grade school classmates did so as well, it is just too easy.

On the other hand calling wounded veterans "Phony soldiers" because you disagree with what they experienced is a lot closer to disrespecting the men in uniform. And refusing to allow them to speak in rebuttal even when they tried to pay for it is not only against free speech but against paid speech as well if it does not fit your propaganda.

As usual GOP Situational Ethics is beyond outrageous.

Republicans NEOCONS along with the Bush administration are not only suppressing constitutional right to free speech, but as it appears they are against everything human. They are nothing but an evil in it's purest form.
