My dog Becky starts off leading but as she gets tired she settles down and I can lead a little bit!! I wouldn't really call it leading so much as dragging me down the road I pull her back and she just chokes. We call her bull head because she loves to charge !! Dumb black lab but you got to love her!!

My dog has a seven acre run here.
When we go to town he loves to walk down in the forest area near by. He waits to hear me say okay let's go and we walk together. He will walk ahead but no further than three feet in front. He doesn't need a lead because he doesn't venture., follow him because It's his walk. I have had him since he was two months old. For some reason there was never any need to train him to do anything. He just did it all like he knew it was right. Weird. Crazy smart!!

I believe the human does because of the fact yes the dog goes wherever he likes to in the area of the lesh, but twhere the lesh is is all up to the master, making the dog sucipitble to whatever the master would or would not like to go

My dog sort of leads the way until she stops to sniff a wall or bit of grass then I lead her away from it.

When I take my dog for a walk he walks in heel with myself leading. I stop he stops I slow down he does etc. When we walk somewhere of leash he will be following me but not in heel and he knows he has opportunity to go ahead,fall behind an explore. He will come to me when I call him (most of the time..working on it) But keeps me in his sights.
