There are two types of accreditation, Regional and National. Regional (RA) is higher and is the same as most traditional colleges in the US have.

National accreditation is useful in some fields but usually only in addition to regional accreditation.

In higher education, whether online or traditional, there are accrediting agencies, such as "Middle States" who investigate, through a self study every several years, the programs and overall running of the university to make sure it meets certain educational standards. It is imperative that you find an accredited school, especially for online programs, to be sure you are getting a degree from a respected school. Degrees conferred from non accredited universities are not commonly accepted as "real" degrees.

Check with the state she where she plans to teach. It may have a list of ECE distance programs it accepts.
