Work will equal the change in kinetic energy.
KE = 1/2 m v^2

Yes, I do buy things on impulse. Usually things like video games or junk food. Once I bought an expensive guitar on impulse. I already had one and had more pressing issues to take care of, but it looked so beautiful I bought it anyway. I would never buy something like a house or a new car on impulse.
