I'm thinking of getting my earlobe pierced and there are lots of different tpes or earrings like all the ones I've named, but I don't know which is best. I'm guessing it's gold, surgical steel or medical plastic but I'm not sure... PLEASE HELP!!!

Definitely high-grade surgical steel to start. It's non-porous so your fresh piercing won't "stick" to it. Also, unlike gold and silver it doesn't cause allergic reactions.
Niobium and titanium would be your other choice as they can also be safely autoclaved and if of high-quality rarely cause allergic reactions either. However, titanium will most likely be more expensive and if choosing niobium you will have a lot fewer choices as it's more difficult to produce.

Stainless steel is your best choice because it has the least chance of any bad reaction to your skin. Titanium is pretty good as far as I know but I think it's just not as commonly used. Gold is not the best option because it often has nickel in it which is a very common skin allergen. I think gold is pretty but it would be best to wait to get gold earrings until later so you can know the metal will be fine with your skin. If you know you are not allergic to gold then that is a fine option as well.

I would think that it would be best to use surgical steel. This coming from the fact that doctors use it for surgery, so why not use exactly what a doctor would use on a patient, its kind of the same same situation isn't it?

Surgical stainless steel = the best. It is hypo-allergenic & commonly available.

"Make sure you use the type of jewelry designed for your piercing site. Only use nonallergenic jewelry. Surgical stainless steel, gold, platinum, niobium, and titanium are the only types of jewelry you should use in a new piercing."

Surgical steel is best for piercings. It's considered hypo-allergenic.

well gold is the best but also remember some people get something like an allergic reaction by wearing fake (i.e, crusty ears, puss, swollen, red etc). so i suggest go with gold and once your ears are recovered try w/e you want.
