do the higher priced mp3 players offer a better sound than cheaper ones or does it all come down to earphones?

I've got a mp3 £85.00 and an £11.00 mp3 and i can honestly say the cheaper one, is just as good for sound quality.

It also depends on the quality of the mp3

Try to resist looking for the most expensive mp3 player out there though :)

No.

All mp3 players are cheaply and poorly built. They are not designed for good sound reproduction, they are simply design to store a lot of music.

not necesarily
some mp3 players are just made loud i guess you could say
also the heapphones count
if you put crappy headphones on a mp3 that has good sound you wont hear it as well

packard bells are good ive had mine for about 2years and its still really quick and easy to use!
